Galactic Racer Is Coming Out In 2026, And Might Not Contain Pod Racing – WGB

The Game Awards contained many surprises, but this one genuinely caught me off guard: a new racing game set in the Star Wars universe. But perhaps the most baffling part of the announcement is that not a single pod racer was shown.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is scheduled for release sometime in 2026 for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation and will be the debut title of Fuse Games, a studio founded in 2023 by a group of former Criterion developers.

There will be a single-player campaign featuring a new character called Shade. “No Force. No prophecy. Just skill, strategy, and the will to rise,” says the game’s page, almost gently mocking the standard Star Wars template.

“STAR WARS: Galactic Racer™ is a runs-based, high-stakes reinvention of racing born in the lawless Outer Rim. With the Empire gone and the galaxy rebuilding, The Galactic League is created: an underground, unsanctioned circuit where syndicates bankroll chaos and champions are forged,” says the official Steam page.

Vehicles include landspeers and hoverbikes, but strangely not a single pod racer was shown or mentioned. But we did get to see Sebulba pop up at the very end of the trailer, so I’m keeping fingers crossed that pod racing will be in the game. If it isn’t, what are we even doing?
